The essay is at heart an open-ended investigation –a fragmentary, wandering though far-from-aimless form of prose. Meandering, meditative, yet remarkably resourceful, the essay forever multiplies its points of entry and exit onto the material at hand. It is an ambulatory form of inquiry, always on the lam from threats of boredom.
